The Harbours

There are two harbours in Kinlochbervie - the modern harbour at Loch Inchard developed in the 1970s and the older harbour at Loch Clash which was the main port throughout most of the 20th century.  Below is a selection of harbour photos.  For more information on either Kinlochbervie Harbour or Loch Clash, please click on the links under the Discover Kinlochbervie tab above.

Kinlochbervie is one of the top whitefish ports in Scotland.  Located in Loch Bervie (an offshoot of Loch Inchard), the port was developed in the 1970s.  Fish are auctioned at the market building (check in the evenings) and tourists are welcome to watch at a respectable distance.  There is also a thriving shellfish industry.  The yacht marina was built in 2013 and is the most northerly marina on the west coast.  Seals can often been seen in the harbour and are easiest to spot when the tide and fishing boats are both "in".  The Chandlers has fishing supplies, clothing and souvenirs.

Nearby is Loch Clash - the original commercial and maritime heart of the village.  The jetty on the Pier is popular for fishing and the stony beach offers easy access for kayakers and paddleboarders.  Eilan Roan ("Seal Island") is just offshore.  There are often seals in Loch Clash; you might also see otters, dolphins, porpoises and occasionally minke whales.  There are good visitor facilities at Loch Clash:  two picnic sites, nearby shop and café and facilities on the Pier for motorhomes (overnight stopping, waste water disposal and fresh water).
