31-05-09 Lifes a Beach
It's been scorchingly hot and sunny this weekend in Kinlochbervie.

We took a trip out to Polin Beach, just to make a change from Oldshoremore.

Turning off the Sheigra road before Blairmore, the road leads down to a small carpark from where a short walk through fields brings you to Polin Beach. We've mapped it in our Local Walks section.

There were hundreds of these tiny millipedes scurrying about on the beach. Just an inch long and totally harmless.

Lots of sandeels had been cut-off by the tide and stranded in a small lagoon.

Sandeels are a common source of food for many seabirds, such as Puffins or this Oystercatcher -->
