[Submarine Incident off Kinlochbervie]There was an incident in the sea off Kinlochbervie earlier this week.

The fishing boat Silver Cloud II (WK80) was trawling for prawns in the Minch off Kinlochbervie when it was ordered to change course to avoid a French submarine.

The submarine is believed to be the FS Saphir - a nuclear attack submarine, and was taking part in the multi-national exercise Joint Warrior 091.

In complying with instructions the Silver Cloud's nets were torn and wrecked. Skipper John McKenzie is reported to be seeking compensation from the MOD.
