The North West Community Bus Association's AGM last week was very well attended.

Amongst the items discussed were the Association's gaining of a Section 22 permit which greatly expands the potential customer base and allows individuals as well as groups to hire the minibus, provided the driver has D1 entitlement and has successfully completed the MiDAS training course. It also allows drivers to be paid for their services.

Also as part of the Section 22 permit, the community bus will be operating a regular scheduled bus route between Kinlochbervie and Ullapool, twice a month. In addition to the extra income this may generate it is hoped that it will also make the Association more eligible for grant funding.

[North West Community Bus Association]The AGM also co-incided with the long-awaited return of the community minibus following repairs. Nearly four months out of action, the delay was caused by an almost total unavailability of the spare panel required to fix it, apparently made out of unobtonium...

The Community Bus Association also has a website at www.nwcba.co.uk where you can find out more about it as well as checking the bookings calendar.

Following Gill's recent retirement Morag Chapman has taken over the position of Transport Co-ordinator for the Association and she will be your first point of contact when making or enquiring about a booking.
