|It isn't everyday that you land a Monkfish as large as the one shown here, landed this afternoon in Kinlochbervie!|
Weighing-in at more than 63 kilos and measuring an impressive 96 inches in length, it was caught by the fishing boat Venture II.
Sometimes called an anglerfish, the Monkfish is a bottom-dwelling fish that attracts other fish towards it with the three spiny fins protruding from the front of its head and which it then proceeds to eat. It could by no stretch of the imagination be called a pretty fish!
Also landing fish today are the pair trawlers, Adorne II (INS220) and Ryanwood (FR307), Radiance (INS240), and Prospect (BF573).
