17-06-10 Amy Goes Coastal!
Earlier this year Amy Leigh quit her job, put her life on hold and her house up for rent, and took up the challenge to walk the entire coast of Great Britain to raise money for Kidney Research UK, and in a few weeks time she'll be coming through Kinlochbervie!

She set out from Guy's Hospital, London, on 1 February 2010 and is expected to arrive in Oban this weekend. The entire trek will see her walking 6,824 miles - that's roughly equivalent to walking from the UK to Singapore!

Walking between 20 and 40 miles a day she expects to reach Kinlochbervie by the middle weekend in July.

She's not doing this alone, of course. Her brother, Andrew, has also set aside normal life and is following her round Britain in their support van.

The inspiration for this challenge was the death of their brother, Dean, from kidney disease in 2005. Too ill to undergo a transplant and with dialysis failing, he was just 43 when he died.

If you're into social networking you can follow Amy's progress by joining her page on Facebook.
