14-04-12 The Loss of the Nostar Boat
A dedication will take place later this month for the lost crew of the Nostar boat, from Harris, which foundered at Sandwood Bay near to Kinlochbervie back in 1893.

The Nostar boat left the west coast of Scotland on 8 December 1893 in the company of two other fishing boats, intending to return to Harris but became separated from the other two in the region of the Shiant Isles.

Four days later two bodies were found at Sandwood by shepherd Farquar MacRae. Six days later two more bodies were found.

The bodies of Donald MacInnes and his eldest son Norman, Angus Shaw and his nephew, also Angus were buried in the cemetary at Oldshoremore, Kinlochbervie. Of Roderick Shaw, the fifth and final crewman, no trace was ever found and is it believed he may have been washed overboard close to the Shiants.

It is intended to erect a plaque at the Oldshoremore cemetary which will be dedicated on Friday, 27 April 2012 at 12pm. Everyone is invited to attend.

The full story of the Nostar Boat can be found in the Documents section of the website.
