|It's been a long time coming but at long last it looks like the single track road just north of Laxford Bridge is going to be widened to two lanes.|
Highland Council have lodged a planning application to upgrade the 950m stretch of road north of Laxford Bridge.
You can view the details of the planning application by clicking on This Link where you can also leave comments on the plan.
Laxford Bridge itself won't be affected and will remain single-track only.
|We first reported on this back in January 2011 as part of the Vital Highland Roads project, so it's only taken two years to get to this stage.|
Road users may have noticed surveying work taking place shortly before Christmas. Part of this work was in order to ensure that otters living in Loch Laxford wouldn't be affected by the work. A report on this can also be found as part of the planning application.
Highland Council are keen for local companies to consider tendering for the construction work involved and are holding a meeting for businesses who want to learn more about the procurement process. Full details of this can be found by clicking on This Link.
The meeting will be held in Dornoch on Wednesday, 16 January 2013 so presumably the council's definition of the word 'local' differs from that of the OED.
