|Road widening work is about to start on the single track section of the A838 to the north of Laxford Bridge.|
|Work is scheduled to commence on Monday, 13 May 2013 and last for up to 20 weeks, taking it right across the holiday and tourist season.|
Whilst the planning application states that the road should remain passable at all reasonable times it remains to be seen what impact this will have on traffic using this route, for which there is no reasonable alternative.
Locally concerns have been raised that the wider road will result in vehicles approaching the single-track bridge at higher speeds than present, resulting in great risk of an accident.
Details of the planning application and plans of the new road layout can be found on the Highland Council Website.
Surveyors and other construction workers are already on-site setting out markers and spraying the road. Unfortunately they're parking in passing places and at other risky spots along the single track stretch so please take care.
