|Last week's Port Committee meeting was well-attended and resulted in a generally accepted plan for extending the pontoons.|
There was a very frank exchange of views between Highland Council and the harbour users, including submissions by skippers presently at sea and unable to attend in person.
The initial extension plan has been modified and will now consist of just two new sections being added to the existing structure instead of three, leaving at least 40m between the iceplant/fuelling pier and the end of the pontoons.
Amongst other topics discussed were local pleasure craft occupying berths reserved for visiting yachts and boats bearing signs telling other users not to tie-up alongside them. No doubt Highland Council will address these matters in due course.
