04-08-13 Peat Road Concerns
Concern continues to grow over the safety and stability of a bridge on one of the peat roads around Kinlochbervie.

The peat road that starts from the end of Manse Road and winds up the hillside to the peat cuttings has a concrete bridge spanning a burn at one point.

The bridge was constructed by pouring concrete into a metal and timber frame, and supported by two stone piers.

As can clearly be seen in these photos, half of one pier has been washed away and maybe three quarters of the other has gone.

Without the bridge access to these peat cuttings would become impossible.
