[Oldshoremore, Kinlochbervie]

There are several ranger-guided walks taking place in or around Kinlochbervie during August.
  • Tuesday, 4 August 2009
    10am-4pm. Rhiconich by river and loch.
    Hill walk up-river across moorland and bog; beautiful scenery, moorland wildlife and ancient dramatic geology in the foothills of Foinaven.

  • Thursday, 6 August 2009
    10am-12.30pm. Scourie cliffs and caves.
    An undulating circular walk above the Scourie gneiss cliffs and caves, beautiful scenery, seabirds, signs of otters and some local history, not suitable for dogs or children. Free church car park. NC 152 434.

  • Wednewsday, 12 August 2009
    10am-2pm. Kyle of Durness walk.
    A circular walk along a beautiful coastline; wild flowers, seabirds, quiet beaches, signs of otters, fine views and a bit of elementary geology.

  • Thursday, 20th August 2009
    10am-12.30pm. Scourie coast a gneiss walk.
    Circular walk around Scourie coast, fine views, seabirds, wild flowers, signs of otters and some basic geology. Not suitable for dogs.
    Scourie Beach bird hide. NC 152 446.

  • Friday, 21 August 2009
    10am-12.30pm. Oldshoremore, massed flowers of the machair.
    A beautiful place, a gorgeous beach and an amazing mass of wild flowers, more than you can imagine, across the dunes and grassy machair. Sorry not suitable for dogs.

All of these walks are organised by the Highland Council who also publish a printed guide to walks that can be downloaded from their website.
