[Satellite Tracking For Sheep]New EU regulations came into force today that require all sheep to be trackable via orbiting GPS satellites.

Farmers and crofters now have three months in which to equip every sheep in their flock with a special reflective cap, called an EUSatCap, that can be spotted from space and used to track the movements of each individual sheep.

According to EU agriculture spokesman Jans de Herdwycke, this new satellite tracking system for sheep will enable the EU to more accurately determine the sheep population of western europe whilst at the same time offering farmers the ability to download highly accurate maps showing where each of their sheep has been during any preceeding 24 hour period.

A local crofter, who wished to remain nameless, described the new rules as "woolly" and "a baaaad idea..."
