|An architect's first impression of the proposed new Loch Clash Windfarm has been released to the public today.|
The plan, proposed by Giblean Amadan Energy, is for a small scale windfarm consisting of five or six medium sized wind turbines to be sited on the headland out towards Minister's Point, and also on Eilean a'Chonnaidh, an island at the mouth of Loch Clash.
Power would be brought ashore and connected to the National Grid via a new substation to be built on the old quay at Loch Clash.
When fully operational it is expected that enough electricity can be generated to fully power the homes in Durness, Scourie and Kinlochbervie, and would of course be completely free.
Construction is expected to start sometime in 2012 with completion by the end of 2013.
