The Great Egg Race 2009 took place at Kinlochbervie High School on the evening of Friday, 13 March 2009.
Sixteen teams took part, designing and constructing electrically-powered buggies out of
K'Nex to carry their hard-boiled Eggstronaut safely across a rugged planetary course.

There were buggies in a variety of sizes and designs.

Some of the Eggstronauts looked pretty cool doods!

This one went on to win the competition.

Big wheels were the order of the day for climbing out of craters.

Good axle-articulation helps, too.

High-gearing works well on flat surfaces but proved problematic to some teams.

You wouldn't lose this one in the carpark!
It went on to win the runners-up prize.

Final scores: First place were team "Red Nose Aliens" with runners up "Funky Girls & Dylan".

Well done, everyone! See you all again next year.
